The site

The land is dry and almost bare of vegetation, so we began by planting margosa and palm trees. The marshy ground next to the plot was left exactly as we found it.

Design response

The plan is kept flexible, for the client’s changing needs and for future expansion. An entrance lobby, meeting and multi-functional spaces, design studios, executive offices and workspaces, laid out to keep circulation and services short.

Climate response

The building is turned so the interior gets indirect light, with glass façades facing north and south.

Materials

The material palette is rustic and discreet. Inside, white painted plaster, translucent mirrored glass, glass partitions, stretch membrane ceilings and white powder-coated steel, over hard-wearing cut cement floors. Strip lighting and hanging pendants make the workspace warmer and more communal than a factory usually feels.
