A factory in the Athi River Export Processing Zone in Kenya. The aim was to make the most of the land.

Design response
The project combined a renovation and an extension with a new two-storey factory building. A planted wall runs the length of the long façade.
Each floor is planned for activity-based working, as a sequence of different interior spaces. The reception lobby, executive offices, workspaces and production areas are arranged to keep internal circulation and services short. The production floors are open, and the offices sit in clusters with a little more privacy.
