The brief

A small hotel proposed for a tea estate at Nayapana, for visitors to the factory who do not want to feel that they have checked into anywhere in particular.

Rendering of a timber-clad gable between rock outcrops, reached by a path through the trees
Rendering of the hotel wing above the pond, with its pitched roof and timber-screened upper floor

Design response

We placed the rooms along a contour, kept the roofs low and tile-clad, and left the existing trees alone. The dining pavilion sits over a small water body.

Outcome

The design is currently with the client. We hope it gets built one day.
